The recipe

Many keto recipes are adaptations of high-carb meals. However, sometimes you find a dish that’s custom-made for the ketogenic lifestyle. This recipe fits the bill exactly. Nourishing protein, satiating fats, and fiber make this a healthy keto meal. In fact, this all-in-one meal will have you begging for more.

The Inspiration

If you’ve ever had a garden, you know that zucchini is easy to grow. In fact, this vegetable can quickly become so plentiful that you begin to wonder what to do with all of it! Fortunately, it has a naturally neutral flavor. Because of this, zucchini is one of our favorite vegetables to use as a delivery platform for explosions of savory nutrition.

Can you eat zucchini on keto?

Absolutely! It might seem odd at first that we selected a vegetable that has high carbs and zero fat to be the centerpiece of a recipe designed around a high-fat diet. However, zucchini’s fiber levels make this one of the vegetables that you can indulge in without worrying about being knocked out of ketosis.

Some low-carb advocates tend toward a “dirty keto” approach. This approach is characterized by a heavy emphasis on animal fat and protein. These are fantastic sources of nutrition, but we love to incorporate vegetables whenever and wherever we can.

There are many keto-friendly recipes that include zucchini squash. For example, our Cream of Zucchini Soup, this low-carb Zucchini Pizza Casserole from Real Balanced, and our recipe for Low-Carb Buffalo Baked Zucchini Chips are all great choices for a keto lifestyle.

Are zucchini’s keto?

Yes, they are! Remember, keto focuses on a sustainable lifestyle and the big picture. As long as you’re staying on track with your macros throughout the day, you’ll be able to enjoy quite a few food items that don’t seem like stereotypical keto-friendly foods.

Benefits of zucchini

Zucchini is similar to tofu in one of its essential characteristics. For example, it can take on a variety of flavors and enrich numerous dishes with an infusion of fresh texture.

One of the issues that keto dieters can occasionally face is constipation, and zucchini is an excellent antidote. Filled with water and fiber, this green vegetable will have you back on track in no time! These characteristics also accentuate keto’s ability to regulate blood sugar and increase insulin sensitivity.

Finally, you’ll find that these members of the squash are powerhouses of nutrition, including potassium, vitamin C, beta-carotene, manganese, zeaxanthin, and lutein. These nutritional components help lower inflammation and boost eye health simultaneously. Furthermore, zucchini is rich in B vitamins. This trait makes it an excellent natural energy booster.
