The Frappuccino is pretty much the Holy Grail of Starbucks. Even people who might not be your typical coffee drinker will flock Starbucks for one of these tasty concoctions. They’re the perfectly balanced blend of coffee, milk, and sweetness. The result? A blended beverage that will make you weak in the knees. Ok…well, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but they’re pretty darn good!
Turns out there’s just one problem– even the smallest (Tall) Frappuccino you can order has 36 grams of carbs. Yeah…that’s just about the total number of carbs I’ll eat in an entire day, if not more! And the largest (Venti) 70 grams of carbs!
Imagine if you could have all the goodness of the Frappuccino without carbs or guilt. This Low-Carb Copycat Starbucks Coffee Frappuccino recipe is just that! I promise you, this isn’t just a mediocre alternative to help you live without as many carbs. This tastes just like the real thing! You will not be disappointed!
I also love that making my own Frappuccino myself gives me peace of mind. Not only am I decreasing the sugar and carbs, I also know exactly what’s going into my body. I can use organic ingredients and cream from grass-fed cows if I choose. I’m in complete control.
While making a drink yourself puts you in complete control, it might be a bit intimidating at first. Don’t worry! Even the caramel sauce we use in this recipe is easy to make. Once that’s done, just toss the ingredients in the blender and press a button. In fact, you can probably whip one up in the time it takes you to get to Starbucks and back home.
If you like having control over your own drink ingredients, you may want to check out this “keto Ice Tea” from Low-Carb-No-Carb.
But, you know what’s best of all about this recipe? You never need to leave the comfort of your home. Once you’re done, you can go snuggle under the blankets and finish binge watching your Netflix show.
Enjoy!

Donna,
The carbs actually come from the sugar alcohol, erythritol. Erythritol is absorbed by the GI tract, but then passes through the kidneys unchanged. Because the calories are not available to the body and do not raise blood glucose levels, we do not count them as carbohydrates in our nutritional information. I hope this helps!

Be aware the heavy whipping cream can raise cholesterol. I was doing this drink daily until I saw my doctors face when reviewing my labs.
Your body actually makes cholesterol in response to inflammation. Heavy whipping cream does contain some cholesterol, but may not be the true problem. You might be interested in the book Grain Brain by Dr. Perlmutter. He talks a lot about cholesterol problems.

You have to use the right blend. Swerve is best. Or, use just erythritol and add an extra 1/3
Minus sugar alcohol makes zero carbs
This states that serves 6. So, 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon means 4.5 teaspoons total which is less than 1 teaspoon each.. that’s about 2 grams each maybe where do you get your 27?
Can you double the recipe, take the ice out and keep the mocha frappe in the fridge to drink everyday…maybe pour it over ice for iced coffee?
I haven’t tried this, but it sounds like a good idea to me!

Hi, I love going to Starbucks and ordering a sugar free vanilla frappucino with heavy cream and whip but there’s so many carbs! How could I tweak this recipe to be low carb please?
Bev,
Neither of us has had one of those. Looks like we’ll have to do some “research” and try one!
-Annissa
How many servings does this make?
Lacy,
It makes six servings. I don’t remember exactly, but I think the serving size is about 6 ounces or so.

Hi there! I’m not a coffee drinker at all but the one thing I love from Starbucks, is a white mocha latte. I can actually do a latte in any of the sugar free flavors. How can I make this low carb either ordering there or at home?
Hi Lisa,
I’m a plain coffee kind of girl, so you have me stumped. Harper likes her sweet drinks, but never orders a latte.
I know that a lotte is made with steamed milk. Because of the sugar content in the milk, it has a good number of carbs. I’m hoping that someone else can chime in to see what milk they sub to make a latte low-carb.

I get my latte macchiato made with heavy cream and an extra shot of espresso. Get the smaller size though because it’s a lot of cream!! I think it’s about a dollar extra.
Thanks for your input, Becca! Sounds awesome!
Annissa
use hwc instead (heavy whipping cream)
Sugar free white chocolate syrups torani or skinny syrups brand, you could try World Market or Sam’s Club to find these.
Hello,
I was wondering if you (with your love of pumpkin) wouldn’t mind tweaking it to make a pumpkin frap?
Hi Anna,
That sounds like a great idea! I think it could be easily tweaked to make it pumpkin spice. I might wait until next fall, though to keep it seasonal.
-Annissa
Thank you for the recipe. I did everything except I used sugarfree hazelnut and added a teaspoon of Cacao powder. It was great.
Sara,
Sounds yummy!
Since this recipe makes 6 servings, how do you save the rest of it if you only use a little? If you put it in the freezer, how does it turn out when having the leftovers?
Hi Cara,
I would not recommend freezing this recipe. Instead, you could make a fraction of the recipe and use a smaller, single serving blender. This way you won’t have leftovers.

Hi,
Carbs minus fiber equals net carbs. Wouldn’t this be
.6 carbs? (1.2 carbs – 0.6 fiber).
I am a mocha drinker, either. Hot frap. I order sugar free everything, but I am confused about wether I should or fat fre, , 2%,, or whipping cream. I am a new diabetic trying sort they different information I read.
Mary,
I can see why you are confused! There is a lot of research coming out that shows that a ketogenic diet can greatly help those with type 2 diabetes. Studies such as this one show that a keto diet may be preferable to the low fat diet that many professionals are recommending. It will probably take decades for the “official” diet recommendations to catch up to the research. A ketogenic diet is very low carb, higher fat, and moderate protein, therefore, the whipping cream would work best for this diet as it is the lowest in carbs and higher in fat. You may want to look into a ketogenic diet as you sort through information to find what works best for you. I hope this helps!
Just tried this drink out and i love it! I love Starbucks, but most of their drinks have many carbs like you said. This is a great recipe! Just put the rest in the fridge to save for my mom to try when she gets home. Thank you for all you do!
Thanks so much! Glad that this recipe made a difference for you. Thanks for sharing how you use the leftovers!
Annissa
If I use equal instead what would the net carbs be? My stonach is very sensitive to erythrol and I can’t use stevia either.
